This crucial role provides essential support to our attorneys and paralegals, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of various legal processes and case management. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and reports.
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic client files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Conduct preliminary legal research using various databases and resources.
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court dates, managing attorneys' calendars.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and phone calls, directing inquiries appropriately.
- Assist with the preparation for trials, hearings, and client meetings.
- Process billing, expense reports, and other administrative tasks as required.
- Coordinate with courts, clients, and opposing counsel to facilitate communication and information exchange.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and firm information.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar administrative role within a legal setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to conduct basic legal research.
- Discretion and strict adherence to confidentiality protocols.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Problem-solving aptitude and ability to work under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- A recognized Paralegal Certificate or Diploma.
- Knowledge of Jamaican legal procedures and court systems.
