Job Description
We are seeking a highly organised, diligent, and enthusiastic Legal Assistant to join our busy team in Croxteth, Liverpool. Key Responsibilities
- Drafting, proofreading, and amending a variety of legal documents, correspondence, and forms under supervision.
- Managing and maintaining comprehensive physical and electronic case files, ensuring all documents are accurately organised, filed, and easily retrievable.
- Assisting with legal research, gathering relevant information, and preparing summaries for solicitors.
- Scheduling appointments, meetings, and court dates, and managing diaries for assigned legal professionals.
- Liaising with clients, courts, external counsel, and other third parties professionally and efficiently.
- Preparing court bundles, indexes, and chronologies.
- Processing incoming and outgoing mail, emails, and faxes.
- Performing general administrative duties such as photocopying, scanning, and data entry.
- Ensuring compliance with firm policies, legal procedures, and data protection regulations.
- Assisting with billing processes and expense reports as required.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 18 months experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar legal support role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, with a proven track record of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated understanding of legal terminology and procedures.
- Strong commitment to client confidentiality and data security.
Preferred Qualifications
- A-Levels or equivalent qualifications.
- Completion of a Legal Secretarial or Paralegal qualification (e.g., CILEx, NALP).
- Experience with case management software (e.g., Practice Evolve, Proclaim).
- Familiarity with various areas of law practice.
