Job Description
Absa Bank Mozambique is seeking a highly motivated and diligent Entry-Level Legal Advisor (Assessor Jurídico) to join our esteemed Legal and Compliance team in Maputo. As an Assessor Jurídico, you will play a crucial role in supporting our legal department by providing foundational legal assistance, conducting thorough research, and ensuring the bank’s adherence to all relevant laws and regulations in Mozambique. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the legal team in conducting comprehensive legal research on a variety of topics, including banking regulations, corporate law, and commercial contracts.
- Draft and review legal documents, correspondence, opinions, and reports under the guidance of senior legal counsel.
- Support the preparation of legal briefs, pleadings, and other submissions for litigation or regulatory matters.
- Assist in ensuring the bank's compliance with all applicable local and international laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Provide administrative support to the legal department, including managing legal documentation and maintaining accurate records.
- Liaise with internal departments to gather information, clarify legal queries, and provide basic legal guidance as directed.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments in Mozambique and assist in assessing their potential impact on the bank's operations.
- Participate in internal meetings and training sessions to enhance legal knowledge and understanding of banking operations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized institution.
- Fluency in English and Portuguese (both written and spoken) is essential.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity, discretion, and ethical conduct.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior internship experience in a legal department, law firm, or financial institution.
- Basic understanding of banking law, financial regulations, or corporate governance.
