GHD is seeking an accomplished and dynamic Lead Civil Engineer with a strong background in project management to join our thriving team in Oshawa, Ontario. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage civil engineering projects from initiation to close-out, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to project teams, overseeing design, analysis, and construction supervision activities.
- Develop and implement project management plans, including resource allocation, risk management strategies, and quality assurance processes.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies, managing expectations and fostering strong relationships.
- Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, specifications, drawings, and other project deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards, municipal bylaws, provincial and federal regulations.
- Oversee financial performance of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and invoicing.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including preparing bids, proposals, and presentations to secure new projects.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the team and across all project activities.
Required Skills
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering design and project management.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Strong technical expertise in civil engineering principles, design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation), and relevant codes/standards.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet tight deadlines.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Experience with design-build or public-private partnership (P3) project delivery models.
- Familiarity with local Oshawa and Durham Region municipal standards and practices.
