Britannia Hotels in Manchester is actively seeking a dedicated and reliable Laundry Attendant to join our dynamic hospitality team. As a Laundry Attendant, you will expertly manage the full laundry cycle from start to finish. This includes the careful sorting of soiled items according to fabric type, colour, and specific cleaning requirements to prevent damage or cross-contamination. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of industrial washing, drying, and pressing machines, adhering strictly to manufacturer guidelines and hotel best practices. Post-laundry, your tasks will involve the meticulous pressing, precise folding, and organised stacking of clean linen, ensuring it is ready for distribution to various departments, including housekeeping and food and beverage. This role demands a good level of physical stamina, exceptional efficiency, and a proactive approach to maintaining a consistent and well-stocked supply of fresh, clean linen throughout the hotel.
You will play a crucial role in upholding all health and safety guidelines pertinent to laundry operations, including the proper handling of chemicals and machinery. Operating all equipment safely is paramount, and you will be expected to report any maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions promptly to ensure uninterrupted service and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Sort and categorise soiled linen, towels, and uniforms according to fabric type, colour, and soil level.
- Operate industrial washing, drying, and pressing machines safely and efficiently.
- Monitor laundry cycles and adjust settings as necessary to ensure optimal cleaning and care.
- Press, fold, and neatly stack clean linen, ensuring it meets hotel presentation standards.
- Inspect all items for damage or stains and report as necessary.
- Maintain adequate stock levels of clean linen, preparing it for distribution to hotel departments.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and established laundry procedures.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, damage, or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Keep the laundry area clean, tidy, and organised at all times.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as required.
