Job Description
Lafarge Africa Plc is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Quality Control Analyst to join our dynamic team in Ogbogoro, Port Harcourt. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet the stringent quality standards and specifications set by Lafarge Africa and relevant regulatory bodies. As a Quality Control Analyst, you will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity and reliability of our building materials, directly impacting customer satisfaction and our reputation as an industry leader.
Your day-to-day will involve conducting a comprehensive range of physical and chemical tests on samples using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. You will be responsible for accurate data collection, analysis, and interpretation, identifying any deviations from quality benchmarks and promptly reporting findings. This role demands a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will work closely with production teams, providing valuable insights and recommendations to optimize processes and prevent quality issues. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine physical and chemical tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods according to established procedures and standards.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Collect, record, analyze, and interpret quality control data, identifying trends and potential deviations.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on quality control findings, recommending corrective actions where necessary.
- Ensure strict adherence to company quality policies, national (e.g., SON) and international (e.g., ISO) quality management standards.
- Investigate and troubleshoot quality-related issues, collaborating with production and technical teams to implement effective solutions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the laboratory.
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing accurate documentation and demonstrating compliance.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of quality control processes and procedures.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality Control role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in cement, concrete, or building materials.
- Proficiency in performing standard laboratory tests and using analytical instruments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical data and generate clear, concise reports.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or relevant professional certifications in Quality Management.
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and other quality improvement methodologies.
- Prior experience in the cement or concrete industry is highly advantageous.
