SGS Canada Inc. is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lab Quality Assurance Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This pivotal remote role allows you to make a significant impact from your home office in Clearview Ridge, Red Deer, by ensuring the highest standards of quality, compliance, and efficiency across our diverse laboratory operations. As a Lab Quality Assurance Coordinator, you will be instrumental in upholding SGS’s global reputation for excellence by actively developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality management systems. This position requires an individual who is proactive, exceptionally detail-oriented, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision, while simultaneously demonstrating strong capabilities in effectively communicating and collaborating with stakeholders across various functions and geographical locations. Your responsibilities will include contributing to continuous process improvements, conducting thorough internal audits, managing corrective and preventative actions (CAPA), and ensuring strict adherence to international standards such as ISO 17025, GLP (Good Laboratory Practice), and other relevant regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 17025, GLP, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Conduct internal and external audits, including supplier audits, to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate, document, and manage non-conformances, deviations, and customer complaints, implementing effective corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
- Prepare and maintain essential quality documentation, including SOPs, quality manuals, audit reports, and training records.
- Provide quality training and support to laboratory staff, promoting a strong quality culture.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality and provide regular reports to management.
- Participate in management reviews of the QMS and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of quality metrics and compliance status.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and accreditation organizations during inspections and assessments.
- Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes affecting laboratory operations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Quality Assurance role within a laboratory setting (e.g., environmental, pharmaceutical, food, or medical lab).
- Strong understanding and practical experience with ISO 17025 and/or GLP principles.
- Proven experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and audit processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex quality concepts clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ (American Society for Quality) certification (e.g., CQE, CQA, CMQ/OE).
- Master’s degree in a scientific field or Quality Management.
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Prior experience in a remote QA role.
- Knowledge of other relevant regulatory frameworks specific to certain lab types (e.g., FDA, Health Canada).
