Job Description

Jumia is seeking a dedicated Junior Driver to join our thriving logistics team in Ogba, Agege. This full-time position is critical to ensuring the seamless flow of goods from our hubs to our valued customers and partners across Lagos. As a Junior Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of parcels, packages, and other items using light vehicles. You will play a crucial support role, assisting senior drivers and the logistics team with various operational tasks, including loading, unloading, route planning assistance, and basic vehicle maintenance checks. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate light delivery vehicles safely and efficiently to transport goods to designated locations within Ogba, Agege and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure timely pickup and delivery of packages, adhering strictly to delivery schedules and routes.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of goods, ensuring proper handling and securing of items to prevent damage.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any mechanical issues or damage promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Keep accurate records of deliveries, including proof of delivery (POD), mileage logs, and fuel consumption.
  • Communicate effectively with the logistics team, customers, and partners regarding delivery status and any unforeseen issues.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and operational procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service during interactions, representing Jumia professionally.
  • Support senior drivers and logistics staff with various ad-hoc tasks as required to ensure smooth operations.

Required Skills

  • Valid Nigerian driver's license (Class E/G minimum)
  • Clean driving record with no major violations
  • Proficiency in driving light commercial vehicles (vans, small trucks)
  • Good knowledge of Lagos road networks, particularly Ogba, Agege and surrounding areas
  • Ability to read maps and use GPS navigation systems
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle checks and minor troubleshooting
  • Physical stamina to handle loading and unloading of packages
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • High level of integrity and responsibility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or equivalent
  • Previous experience (6+ months) as a delivery driver or support driver in a logistics or e-commerce environment
  • Familiarity with e-commerce delivery processes and customer service best practices
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or public holidays if required
  • OND/HND in a relevant field is a plus
