Job Description
GIG Logistics is seeking a proactive, highly motivated, and physically fit Junior Driver Assistant to support our distribution delivery operations in Lekki Phase 1, Victoria Island. This full-time, on-site role is crucial for ensuring timely and accurate parcel distribution across designated routes. As a key member of our operational team, you will primarily be responsible for the manual loading and unloading of a wide variety of packages, assisting drivers with route navigation, and diligently ensuring the safety and security of goods during transit. Key Responsibilities
- Manually load and unload a wide variety of packages and parcels from delivery vehicles with care and efficiency.
- Assist drivers with route planning and navigation, ensuring optimal delivery paths are taken.
- Verify manifest details against loaded packages to ensure accuracy before departure and upon delivery.
- Handle packages with care, ensuring safe delivery without damage.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, interacting courteously and professionally with recipients.
- Assist with basic vehicle checks (e.g., tire pressure, fuel levels) and report any issues to the driver or supervisor.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and traffic regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the delivery vehicle.
- Assist in collecting proof of delivery (POD) and handle basic delivery documentation.
Required Skills
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly (up to 25kg).
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding operational environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for handling delivery manifests and documentation.
- A keen eye for detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work under supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/WASSCE) or an equivalent academic qualification.
- Previous experience (formal or informal) in a logistics, warehouse, or delivery support role.
- Familiarity with Lekki Phase 1, Victoria Island, and general Lagos road networks.
- Possession of a valid Nigerian driver's license (e.g., Class E or G) is an advantage, though not a requirement for driving in this role.
