Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Journeyman Pipefitter to join our dynamic team in Warrington, England. This is an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to a variety of challenging industrial projects. As a Journeyman Pipefitter with Bilfinger UK, you will be responsible for the precise fabrication, assembly, installation, and maintenance of piping systems within industrial environments, including process plants, power generation facilities, and manufacturing sites. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the integrity and functionality of critical infrastructure, working with diverse materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and various alloys, and adhering strictly to engineering drawings, specifications, and safety protocols. The role demands exceptional attention to detail, a thorough understanding of piping codes and standards, and the ability to interpret complex P&ID’s and isometric drawings. You will be expected to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, troubleshooting issues, performing quality checks, and upholding Bilfinger’s unwavering commitment to operational excellence and occupational health and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and P&ID drawings to determine pipe layouts, material requirements, and installation procedures.
- Fabricate, install, and fit industrial pipes and piping systems according to specified dimensions and safety standards.
- Utilise various pipefitting tools and equipment, including cutting, bending, threading, and welding machines, ensuring precise measurements and fit-up.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on existing piping systems, including inspection, repair, and replacement of faulty components.
- Conduct hydro-testing, pressure testing, and other quality assurance checks on newly installed or repaired pipework.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, industry regulations, and environmental standards at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, welders, and other tradespersons to ensure project milestones are met and work proceeds smoothly.
- Identify and troubleshoot complex piping system issues, proposing and implementing effective solutions.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for and stored.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Journeyman Pipefitter in an industrial setting.
- Extensive knowledge of piping materials, specifications, and industry codes (e.g., ASME, ANSI).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
- Skilled in cutting, threading, bending, and welding various types of piping materials.
- Strong understanding of industrial safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Valid full UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Pipefitting or Mechanical Engineering.
- CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Confined Space Entry and Working at Height certifications.
- Experience with specialist welding techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG) for diverse materials.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
