Job Description
Cataraqui Centre, a flagship shopping destination serving the Kingston community and surrounding regions, is on the lookout for dedicated and meticulous Janitorial Floor Support team members to enhance our facility operations. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, and polishing floors in all common areas, hallways, and service corridors.
- Clean and sanitize washrooms, ensuring all fixtures are sparkling and supplies are consistently stocked.
- Empty waste receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas, ensuring proper waste segregation.
- Respond promptly to spills and other urgent cleaning requests to maintain a safe and hazard-free environment for visitors and staff.
- Operate and maintain a variety of cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers, polishers, and vacuums, ensuring they are used safely and effectively.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and communicate needs to the supervisor to ensure adequate stock levels.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Assist with seasonal cleaning tasks and special projects as required, contributing to the overall upkeep of the facility.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with mall visitors and tenants, upholding Cataraqui Centre's customer service standards.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
- Basic communication skills to understand instructions and interact courteously with others.
- Reliability and punctuality with a strong work ethic.
- Understanding of general cleaning practices and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a janitorial, custodial, or commercial cleaning role (e.g., 6+ months).
- Familiarity with various cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to commercial cleaning.
- Possession of a valid First Aid/CPR certification.
