Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and budgets, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial standards.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations, journal entries, and maintain comprehensive, accurate accounting records.
- Ensure strict compliance with IFRS/GAAP standards, internal company policies, and relevant Canadian financial regulations.
- Actively participate in month-end and year-end close processes, meeting tight deadlines with precision.
- Support internal and external audits by compiling necessary documentation, providing clear explanations, and responding to inquiries promptly.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify significant trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Collaborate effectively with various internal departments to gather financial information, resolve discrepancies, and support cross-functional initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new accounting procedures, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with the preparation of corporate tax filings and ensure adherence to all Canadian federal and provincial tax regulations.
- Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to management to aid in strategic decision-making.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in an accounting role.
- Demonstrated proficiency in major accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Strong understanding and practical application of IFRS and GAAP.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all tasks.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team in a hybrid work environment.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial information clearly.
