Job Description
Are you a skilled and customer-focused IT professional looking to make a tangible impact? Hydro One is seeking a dedicated IT Support Specialist to join our team in The Loop, Chicago. In this pivotal role, you will be the first point of contact for our employees, providing essential technical assistance and support for computer systems, hardware, and software. Your expertise will ensure our team members can efficiently carry out their crucial tasks, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity across our corporate functions. Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-level and second-level technical support for hardware, software, network, and system-related issues via phone, email, and in-person.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in Active Directory and other relevant systems.
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, and upgrades of operating systems and application software.
- Document all support activities, resolutions, and procedures in our ticketing system.
- Assist with network connectivity issues, including Wi-Fi, VPN, and basic LAN/WAN troubleshooting.
- Provide basic training to users on new software or hardware functionalities.
- Collaborate with senior IT staff and other departments to resolve more complex issues.
- Maintain inventory of IT assets and ensure proper asset management practices are followed.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in an IT Support or Help Desk role.
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft 365) applications.
- Experience with Active Directory for user and group management.
- Familiarity with IT ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk, Jira Service Desk).
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate certification.
- Experience with remote support tools and methodologies.
- Knowledge of ITIL framework and best practices.
- Prior experience in a utility or essential services industry.
