Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems for anomalies, alerts, and potential threats, utilizing SIEM tools and other security platforms.
- Perform initial triage, investigation, and incident response for security events, documenting findings and escalating as necessary.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on systems and applications, providing recommendations for remediation.
- Implement and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in security audits and reviews, ensuring compliance with internal and external security frameworks.
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and infrastructure projects.
- Provide security awareness training and guidance to employees on best practices and emerging threats.
- Manage and configure security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), anti-virus solutions, and web content filters.
- Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and technological advancements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans related to cybersecurity.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in an IT Security Analyst or similar role.
- Solid understanding of security principles, protocols, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools (e.g., Splunk, LogRhythm, Azure Sentinel).
- Proficiency in network security fundamentals, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and proxies.
- Knowledge of operating systems security (Windows, Linux) and cloud security concepts (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with vulnerability management tools and processes (e.g., Qualys, Nessus).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex security issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GSEC, CEH, CISSP).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.
- Hands-on experience with incident response methodologies and digital forensics.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Experience in a consulting or managed security services environment.
