Julius Berger Nigeria Plc is seeking a skilled and dedicated Irrigation Technician to join our dynamic team in Port Harcourt. This pivotal role involves the expert installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of irrigation systems for a variety of applications, including large-scale landscaping projects, commercial developments, and potentially agricultural setups managed by our facilities or clients. Your daily tasks will encompass everything from laying out and connecting piping, installing sprinkler heads, valves, and control systems, to programming irrigation controllers for optimal performance. You will conduct routine inspections to identify and resolve issues such as leaks, blockages, or electrical malfunctions. A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to system optimization are essential. Furthermore, you will be involved in evaluating site-specific needs, suggesting improvements, and sometimes assisting in the design phase of new irrigation projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations.

This position requires hands-on experience with various irrigation components, including drip systems, sprinkler systems, pumps, and automated controllers. You will work both independently and as part of a larger project team, collaborating with engineers, landscape architects, and other technical staff. The ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics is crucial. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair various types of irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, rotary, etc.) for landscape, commercial, and agricultural projects.
  • Perform routine inspections, diagnostic checks, and preventative maintenance on irrigation components, including pumps, valves, controllers, and piping.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system failures, including leaks, clogs, electrical faults, and pressure issues.
  • Program and adjust irrigation controllers for optimal water distribution and efficiency, considering weather conditions and plant needs.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to correctly install and layout irrigation networks.
  • Operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment used in irrigation system installation and repair.
  • Monitor water usage and identify opportunities for water conservation and system upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and system configurations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and landscaping teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and environmental regulations on all job sites.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic principles and water management techniques.
