Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Inventory Officer to join our vibrant team in Rumuogba, Port Harcourt. This critical role is essential for maintaining optimal stock levels, ensuring product availability, and minimizing waste across our operations. The Inventory Officer will be responsible for the accurate tracking, management, and control of all goods, from receipt to dispatch, playing a pivotal role in the efficiency of our supply chain and the profitability of our retail outlets. Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability, preventing stock-outs and overstocking.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical counts and system records.
  • Implement and maintain robust inventory control procedures and policies to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Prepare comprehensive inventory reports, including stock movement, turnover rates, obsolete stock, and shrinkage analysis, for management review.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement, sales, and warehouse teams to forecast demand, coordinate deliveries, and manage returns effectively.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry of all inventory transactions into the company's inventory management system.
  • Identify and investigate root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff on proper storage, handling, and organization of inventory to maximize space and reduce damage.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of inventory management strategies and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards related to inventory management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Inventory Officer or in a similar inventory control role.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management software (e.g., ERP systems, WMS).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of inventory control principles and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS CSCP, CPIM).
  • Experience within the retail or Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry.
  • Familiarity with contemporary inventory forecasting techniques.
