Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Intact Claims Adjuster for immediate hiring to join our dynamic team in the Valparaiso, Indiana area. This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility of both remote work and essential on-site presence for inspections, meetings, and collaboration. As a Claims Adjuster, you will be the front line of our commitment to our policyholders, responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and settling property and casualty claims efficiently and fairly. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough investigations of property and casualty claims, including interviewing claimants, witnesses, and other involved parties.
- Inspect damaged property and assess the extent of damage, utilizing various tools and techniques to determine loss.
- Analyze policy coverages, determine liability, and ensure claims are handled in accordance with company guidelines, state regulations, and legal requirements.
- Negotiate fair and equitable settlements with policyholders, third-party claimants, and attorneys, maintaining strong communication throughout the process.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, documenting all aspects of the claims process, including findings, settlement rationale, and recommendations.
- Manage a caseload efficiently, prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accurate claim reserves.
- Collaborate with internal departments, legal counsel, and external vendors to facilitate claims resolution.
- Provide exceptional customer service, keeping all parties informed and addressing inquiries with empathy and professionalism.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry trends and regulations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Claims Adjuster in property and casualty insurance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid environment.
- Proficiency with claims management software and standard office applications (MS Office Suite).
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the Valparaiso and surrounding areas for inspections.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Active Adjuster's license in Indiana.
- Prior experience with Intact Insurance or its subsidiaries (e.g., OneBeacon Insurance Group).
- Familiarity with regional insurance regulations and common claim types in Indiana.
- Professional designations such as AIC (Associate in Claims) or CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter).
