Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems, components, and layouts for transmission and distribution infrastructure.
- Perform complex power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and protective relay coordination analyses.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates for projects.
- Ensure all designs and modifications comply with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC), safety regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with project managers, field crews, and other engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities to ensure successful project implementation.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably within a utility or heavy industrial environment.
- Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD).
- Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) for electrical design.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities for technical reporting and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience with SCADA, GIS, or other utility operational technologies.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Knowledge of renewable energy integration and smart grid technologies.
