Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HR Officer with a specialized focus on Staff Relations and Payroll to join our vibrant Human Resources team at our Constant Spring location. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring a positive and productive work environment for our employees while maintaining the accuracy and compliance of our payroll operations. You will serve as a key point of contact for employee inquiries, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices. Your expertise will be crucial in mediating workplace conflicts, supporting performance management processes, and fostering strong employee-management relationships built on trust and respect. On the payroll front, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of employee salaries, benefits, and deductions, ensuring strict adherence to company policies and relevant labour laws. This includes managing payroll data, preparing detailed reports, and collaborating with finance and other departments to reconcile discrepancies. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full cycle of payroll processing for designated employee groups, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all statutory regulations and company policies.
  • Address and resolve employee grievances and disciplinary matters in a fair, consistent, and legally compliant manner, providing guidance to employees and managers.
  • Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures, advising employees and management on best practices regarding employee relations, performance, and workplace conduct.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, ensuring correct deductions and contributions are processed through payroll.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Jamaican labour laws and HR best practices to ensure continuous compliance and proactive policy adjustments.
  • Prepare and submit various HR and payroll reports, including statutory returns (e.g., NIS, PAYE), internal payroll summaries, and ad-hoc reports as required.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement, retention, and overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the HR team on various projects, including performance management, talent acquisition, and HR information system (HRIS) optimization.
  • Conduct exit interviews and analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements to the employee experience.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring data integrity and privacy.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with a strong focus on staff relations and payroll administration.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of Jamaican Labour Laws and industrial relations practices.
  • Proven experience with payroll software and HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective employee engagement and conflict resolution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification in Human Resources (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or local equivalent).
  • Experience working in the financial services industry.
  • Master's Degree in Human Resources or a related discipline.
