Job Description

Maxima Latvija is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic HR Assistant to join our dedicated Human Resources team in Riga. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with little to no prior HR experience, as comprehensive training will be provided to ensure your success. As an HR Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting various HR functions, contributing to the smooth operation of our human resources department and ensuring a positive experience for our employees across Latvia. You will be involved in administrative tasks, employee lifecycle processes, and contribute to creating a supportive workplace culture. This role is perfect for someone who is highly organized, possesses excellent communication skills, and is eager to develop a strong foundation in HR practices within a leading retail company. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding process, including scheduling interviews, preparing offer letters, and organizing new employee paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, both digital and physical, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Support the HR team with administrative tasks such as preparing HR-related documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits, directing complex issues to the appropriate HR specialist.
  • Assist in organizing and coordinating various training programs and employee development initiatives.
  • Help facilitate employee engagement activities and internal communications.
  • Support payroll preparation by gathering and verifying necessary employee data.
  • Participate in special HR projects and initiatives as assigned, contributing to continuous improvement within the department.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Latvian.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with utmost discretion and professionalism.
  • Proactive attitude and eager to learn new concepts, systems, and HR best practices.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a collaborative member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of HR principles or a keen interest in human resources as a career path.
  • Knowledge of Russian language is considered a significant advantage.
  • Experience with HR information systems (HRIS) is a plus, but not required as training will be provided.
  • A relevant degree or diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field (or currently pursuing).
