Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and compassionate Housekeeper to join our dedicated team at Elizabeth Lodge Care Home, a residential facility committed to providing a high standard of living for our residents in Enfield. As a Housekeeper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene throughout our facility, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for all residents, visitors, and staff. Your meticulous attention to detail will directly contribute to the quality of life and overall well-being of our residents, creating a space where they feel truly at home. This role goes beyond just cleaning; it involves a deep understanding of infection control protocols, a proactive approach to maintaining standards, and a respectful presence within a sensitive residential setting. Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning tasks in residents' rooms, including making beds, tidying, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Clean and sanitize all communal areas, lounges, dining rooms, hallways, and offices to the highest standards.
- Ensure all bathrooms, toilets, and wash facilities are impeccably clean, disinfected, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Adhere strictly to all infection control policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE and waste disposal.
- Monitor and report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards to the appropriate staff members promptly.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, notifying management when reordering is necessary.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively, ensuring its proper maintenance and storage.
- Handle laundry duties as required, including washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and personal items.
- Interact with residents and visitors in a polite, respectful, and compassionate manner, respecting their privacy and dignity.
- Contribute to creating a positive, welcoming, and homely atmosphere within the residential facility.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in housekeeping or cleaning, preferably within a residential or healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of hygiene and infection control principles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and thoroughness in all tasks.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
- Physical fitness to perform duties such as lifting, bending, standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Cleaning and Support Services or a related field.
- Experience working with vulnerable adults or the elderly.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
- Basic first aid certification.
