Duban Hotel & Suites Ajegunle is seeking a skilled and reliable Housekeeper to join our esteemed team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and aesthetic appeal across our hotel premises, as well as occasionally assisting with domestic services within our managed properties. This position requires a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team. Key Responsibilities
- Clean and tidy all assigned guest rooms, public areas (lobbies, hallways, restrooms), and back-of-house areas to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, polish, and sanitize surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and appliances.
- Change bed linens, make beds, and replenish towels and guest room supplies.
- Empty wastebaskets, transport trash and waste to disposal areas following hotel procedures.
- Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and responsibly, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards immediately to the supervisor or relevant department.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and guest amenities, communicating needs promptly to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide exceptional guest service when encountering guests, assisting with requests or directing them appropriately and courteously.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to security, guest privacy, and lost and found items.
- Occasionally assist with domestic cleaning tasks in associated properties or special events as required, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Housekeeper or in a similar cleaning role (minimum 1 year).
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness and sanitation.
- Physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to lift, bend, push, and pull up to 25kg.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong sense of responsibility and integrity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a diverse and collaborative team.
- Basic understanding of hygiene, sanitation practices, and safe handling of cleaning agents.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with guests and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Leaving Certificate or equivalent educational background.
- Previous experience specifically in a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Familiarity with various cleaning products, equipment, and modern cleaning techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; knowledge of local languages (e.g., Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa) is a significant plus.
- A positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a customer-centric approach to service.
