Job Description

The Fort Sutter Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, is seeking dedicated and diligent Hotel Stewards to join our dynamic culinary team. This critical role is essential to maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and efficiency within our bustling kitchen and dining operations, ensuring a pristine environment for both our guests and culinary professionals. While this position is open for overseas hiring, successful candidates will be required to demonstrate full eligibility to work in the United States upon employment.
As a Hotel Steward, you will be at the forefront of our back-of-house operations, responsible for the meticulous cleaning and sanitization of all kitchen equipment, utensils, and dishware. Your keen eye for detail will ensure that every plate, glass, and piece of cutlery meets our rigorous quality standards. Beyond dishwashing, you will play a vital role in maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including floors, walls, storage areas, and waste disposal. This involves sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and ensuring that all work areas are tidy and hazard-free, directly contributing to a safe and productive environment.
This role demands physical stamina, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform meticulous washing, sanitizing, and proper storage of all dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area, kitchen, storage areas, and adjacent facilities.
- Operate dishwashing machines efficiently, ensuring proper chemical levels and water temperature.
- Remove trash and recycling from the kitchen and dispose of it properly.
- Sweep, mop, and scrub kitchen floors, ensuring a safe and hygienic working environment.
- Assist with the receiving, stocking, and proper rotation of inventory as needed.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, including HACCP standards.
- Support the culinary team by ensuring a steady supply of clean equipment and an organized workspace.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to management promptly.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic understanding of kitchen sanitation and safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Punctual and reliable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Steward, Dishwasher, or similar role in a hotel or restaurant setting (1+ year preferred).
- Knowledge of various cleaning chemicals and their safe usage.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working in a hotel kitchen environment.
