The Glasshouse, Autograph Collection, is seeking a dedicated and energetic Hotel Porter to join our exceptional Front Office team. In this pivotal role, you will be the welcoming face of our hotel, responsible for providing seamless luggage assistance, guest transportation, and invaluable local information. You will ensure our guests’ arrival and departure experiences are smooth, comfortable, and exceed expectations. Key Responsibilities
- Warmly greet guests upon arrival and provide prompt, efficient luggage handling, storage, and retrieval services.
- Escort guests to their rooms, offering a comprehensive overview of hotel facilities and in-room amenities.
- Assist guests with transportation arrangements, including taxi services, car parking, and local travel advice, ensuring timely and seamless transitions.
- Provide accurate and insightful information about local attractions, dining recommendations, and cultural events in Edinburgh.
- Manage the secure and efficient flow of luggage and parcels, meticulously documenting all movements.
- Anticipate guest needs and proactively offer assistance or innovative solutions to enhance their overall stay experience.
- Maintain the impeccable cleanliness and tidiness of the hotel entrance, lobby, and bell desk areas, ensuring a welcoming first impression.
- Collaborate effectively with the Concierge, Front Desk, and other hotel departments to ensure cohesive and exemplary guest service.
- Handle guest requests and inquiries with utmost professionalism, efficiency, and a consistently friendly and helpful demeanor.
- Adhere strictly to all hotel policies, safety procedures, and established service standards to uphold the Autograph Collection's reputation.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 6 months) in a customer service role, preferably within a luxury hospitality environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuinely welcoming and approachable manner.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry heavy luggage safely and repeatedly.
- A proactive, enthusiastic attitude coupled with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to perfection.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Immaculate personal presentation and a consistently professional demeanor.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as required by hotel operations.
- Legally authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically as a Hotel Porter, Bellman, or Doorman in a 4 or 5-star hotel setting.
- Extensive knowledge of Edinburgh's local attractions, transportation networks, and cultural hotspots.
- Fluency in additional languages beyond English to cater to our diverse international clientele.
- A valid UK Driving License for assisting with guest vehicle services.
