Job Description
We are seeking a highly dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Hostel Warden to oversee the daily operations and welfare of students residing in our accommodation facilities. This pivotal role involves a blend of administrative management, pastoral care, and fostering a positive, disciplined, and secure living environment. As a Hostel Warden, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of our students, acting as a mentor, guide, and a point of contact for both students and parents/guardians. You will be responsible for upholding the school’s values and regulations, promoting a sense of community, and facilitating a conducive atmosphere for both academic pursuits and personal growth. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and a genuine passion for working with adolescents. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations of the student hostel, ensuring a well-maintained, clean, and safe living environment.
- Enforce hostel rules and regulations to maintain discipline, order, and harmony among residents.
- Provide pastoral care, guidance, and support to students, addressing their personal, social, and academic concerns.
- Oversee the welfare, health, and security of all hostel residents, responding to emergencies promptly and effectively.
- Supervise hostel staff, including cleaners and security personnel, ensuring efficient performance of their duties.
- Mediate conflicts and resolve disputes among students, promoting a culture of respect and understanding.
- Coordinate with the school administration, teachers, and parents/guardians regarding student progress, conduct, and well-being.
- Manage hostel inventory, budget, and procurement of supplies, ensuring responsible resource allocation.
- Organize and supervise engaging social, recreational, and educational activities for hostel residents.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, health issues, disciplinary actions, and communications.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and child protection policies and procedures.
- Regularly inspect facilities and coordinate maintenance or repairs as needed to ensure optimal living conditions.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and time management abilities.
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency response procedures.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience (at least 3 years) in a residential educational setting, hostel management, or student affairs.
- Knowledge of local educational policies and student welfare guidelines in Cross River State.
- Certification in counselling or youth development.
- Fluency in local languages (e.g., Efik, Ibibio) is an added advantage.
