Key Responsibilities

  • Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to deliver products to customer locations throughout the Montreal metropolitan area and surrounding regions.
  • Accurately load and unload merchandise, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage and verifying counts against order forms.
  • Verify delivery contents against shipping documents and obtain necessary customer signatures, handling any discrepancies professionally.
  • Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, addressing any customer questions or concerns with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, meticulously documenting and reporting any maintenance needs or issues.
  • Adhere strictly to all local traffic laws, company safety policies, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional appearance for the delivery vehicle and personal workspace.
  • Collaborate effectively with dispatch, store associates, and customers to coordinate optimal delivery schedules and proactively resolve any logistical issues.
  • Safely handle products of varying sizes and weights, including heavy and bulky items (up to 70 lbs), utilizing appropriate lifting equipment and techniques.
  • Represent The Home Depot brand with the utmost professionalism, integrity, and positive attitude at all times.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) for Quebec with a clean driving abstract and record.
  • Minimum of 1 year of proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar professional driving role.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 70 lbs) independently and perform physical tasks repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Excellent navigation skills and comprehensive familiarity with the Montreal metropolitan area and its road networks.
  • Strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also being a strong team player.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety protocols and procedures in all aspects of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
  • Previous experience operating larger commercial delivery vehicles (e.g., 26-foot box trucks).
  • Valid forklift certification or prior experience operating a forklift.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is highly advantageous and preferred for effectively serving our diverse customer base in Quebec.
  • Prior experience in a retail environment or the home improvement industry.
