Graham Construction is urgently seeking skilled and dedicated Heavy Equipment Operators to join our dynamic team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, compactors, and other construction machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform pre-operational inspections, routine maintenance, and cleaning of equipment, and report any mechanical issues or defects to supervisors.
  • Adhere to all site safety regulations, company policies, and provincial guidelines (OH&S) to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and other construction documents to ensure accurate excavation, grading, and material placement.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, foremen, and other crew members to meet project deadlines and specifications.
  • Load and unload materials, including dirt, rock, gravel, and other aggregates, precisely and safely.
  • Assist with manual labor tasks on site when not operating equipment, as required.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs of equipment hours, maintenance performed, and work completed.
  • Ensure environmental compliance by following best practices for spill prevention and waste management.
  • Communicate effectively with ground personnel using hand signals, two-way radios, and other communication methods.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of verifiable experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or industrial setting.
  • Proven ability to safely and efficiently operate multiple types of heavy equipment.
  • Valid Class 1A or 3A Driver's License (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
  • Strong understanding of construction site safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and independently.
  • Excellent spatial awareness and coordination.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work long hours in various weather conditions.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Operator certification.
  • Experience with GPS-guided equipment systems.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale infrastructure or commercial projects.
  • Relevant safety training certifications (e.g., WHMIS, Fall Protection, Confined Space).
