Job Description

Are you a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator looking for a challenging opportunity to contribute to vital infrastructure projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo? Entreprise Générale Malta Forrest (EGMF) is seeking experienced Excavator and Loader Operators to join our dynamic team in Ilebo, Kasai Province. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment, specifically excavators and front-end loaders, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform daily pre-operation and post-operation checks on equipment, including fluid levels, tires, lights, and controls.
  • Conduct minor routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, and report any major defects or repair needs immediately to supervision.
  • Load and unload materials, including aggregates, soil, and debris, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure transport.
  • Excavate trenches, foundations, and other earthworks according to project specifications and blueprints.
  • Prepare and grade sites for construction, ensuring proper drainage and adherence to established levels.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and local regulations at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with site supervisors, engineers, and other team members regarding project progress and potential issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, contributing to overall site safety and efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator, with specific expertise in excavators and loaders.
  • Valid heavy equipment operator's license or relevant certification.
  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment mechanics and operational principles.
  • Demonstrable commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grading stakes.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Basic knowledge of machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant vocational training or certification from a recognized institution.
  • Experience with various models and brands of heavy equipment (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo).
  • Proficiency in French and/or Lingala.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or mining projects.
  • First Aid and basic emergency response certification.
