Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance.
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as eating, transferring, and toileting.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' physical and mental health to nursing staff.
- Document care provided and observations accurately in resident care records.
- Engage residents in meaningful social activities and promote their independence and well-being.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment for residents.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
Required Skills
- Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant (HCA) program or equivalent international qualification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and patient-centred care.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with seniors in a long-term care or acute care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Knowledge of an additional language relevant to Vancouver's diverse population.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
