Key Responsibilities
- Assist medical staff (doctors and nurses) with patient examinations, procedures, and treatment as directed.
- Provide direct patient support, including assisting with mobility, personal hygiene, feeding, and comfort.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
- Monitor and report changes in patients' conditions or behavior to the nursing staff promptly.
- Handle and transport medical samples, equipment, and supplies safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records as per hospital protocols.
- Adhere strictly to infection control policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and organizing patient files.
Required Skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or First Aid certification
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office)
- Empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Health Assistance, Nursing Aide, or a related field
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a hospital or clinical setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Fluency in local Nigerian languages (e.g., Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo) in addition to English
