Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of health and safety management systems.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Support the investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses, helping to identify root causes and preventive measures.
- Deliver and facilitate health and safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to health and safety activities, incidents, and training.
- Advise employees and management on health and safety best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the development of safety procedures and risk assessments for various operational activities.
- Promote a positive safety culture through active engagement, communication, and awareness campaigns.
- Stay updated on current health and safety legislation, industry standards, and best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and observational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning.
- Valid New Zealand full driver's license (or ability to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (e.g., Diploma or Certificate).
- Previous experience or exposure to a construction, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with New Zealand health and safety legislation (e.g., Health and Safety at Work Act 2015).
- First Aid Certificate.
