Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and dressing.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and accurately document observations.
- Help patients with ambulation and transfers, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe patient environment, including tidying rooms and changing bed linen.
- Assist nurses with various procedures, treatments, and examinations as directed.
- Respond promptly and courteously to patient call signals.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Accurately document all care provided and observations made in patient records.
- Adhere strictly to all HCA Healthcare policies, procedures, and infection control protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Required Skills
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent certification in healthcare support)
- Demonstrable experience in a patient care role, ideally within an acute or clinical setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Basic IT literacy for documentation purposes
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection regulations
- Physical stamina to perform duties involving lifting, standing, and walking
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an NHS or private hospital setting
- Competency in phlebotomy and/or ECG procedures
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience with electronic patient record systems
