Job Description

HCA Healthcare is urgently seeking compassionate and dedicated Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to join our esteemed team, committed to providing outstanding care in Poole, England. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and dressing.
  • Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and accurately document observations.
  • Help patients with ambulation and transfers, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe patient environment, including tidying rooms and changing bed linen.
  • Assist nurses with various procedures, treatments, and examinations as directed.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to patient call signals.
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
  • Accurately document all care provided and observations made in patient records.
  • Adhere strictly to all HCA Healthcare policies, procedures, and infection control protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Required Skills

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent certification in healthcare support)
  • Demonstrable experience in a patient care role, ideally within an acute or clinical setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Basic IT literacy for documentation purposes
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection regulations
  • Physical stamina to perform duties involving lifting, standing, and walking

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an NHS or private hospital setting
  • Competency in phlebotomy and/or ECG procedures
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience with electronic patient record systems
