Job Description
Sandals Ochi Beach Resort is seeking a meticulous and guest-focused individual to join our team as a Guest Resource Specialist, with a primary focus on managing our resort’s collection of books and informational materials. In this unique role, you will be instrumental in enhancing the guest experience by curating and maintaining a diverse collection of reading materials, local guides, and resort information. While not a traditional public library, this position requires a keen understanding of organization, cataloging, and providing accessible information, akin to a librarian’s core competencies. You will be responsible for the acquisition, organization, and preservation of our existing book collection and other informational resources, ensuring they are well-maintained and easily accessible to our international clientele. This role also involves assisting guests with inquiries, recommending reading materials, and maintaining an inviting atmosphere in our designated reading lounges and information points. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a passion for literature and local culture, and a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service in a luxury resort environment. You will be a vital point of contact for guests seeking knowledge and relaxation through reading. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the resort's existing collection of books, magazines, and other print media, ensuring proper organization and presentation.
- Implement and maintain a basic cataloging system for new acquisitions and existing resources, ensuring easy retrieval for guests.
- Curate and recommend reading materials to guests based on their interests and preferences, enhancing their leisure experience.
- Assist guests with inquiries regarding resort amenities, local attractions, and general information, utilizing available resources.
- Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and inviting ambiance of designated reading areas and information points.
- Monitor the condition of reading materials, initiating repairs or replacement as needed to uphold quality standards.
- Research and suggest new acquisitions that align with guest interests, local culture, and resort themes.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Guest Services, Entertainment) to enhance guest engagement through literary-themed activities.
- Prepare periodic reports on resource usage and guest feedback related to the reading collection.
- Ensure all guest interactions uphold Sandals' high standards of luxury service and hospitality.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in library science, information management, or a similar role requiring meticulous organization and cataloging.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to engage with a diverse international clientele.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for inventory management and communication.
