Job Description
Are you passionate about the outdoors and possess a keen eye for detail? Ratho Park Golf Club is seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Groundskeeper to join our dedicated greenskeeping and facility maintenance team. This vital role is central to preserving the exceptional beauty and playability of our championship golf course and surrounding club facilities. Your responsibilities will span a wide range of tasks, from precision turf management, including mowing, strimming, and aeration, to the comprehensive care of our landscaped areas, trees, and shrubs. You will also play a crucial role in maintaining pathways, bunkers, and water features, ensuring they are safe, aesthetically pleasing, and functional. Operating various grounds maintenance machinery and equipment will be a daily expectation, requiring a commitment to safety protocols and efficient operation. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine mowing, strimming, and edging of fairways, greens, roughs, and other grassed areas using a variety of specialist machinery.
- Undertake comprehensive turf maintenance tasks including aeration, top dressing, seeding, and fertilising.
- Manage and maintain bunkers, including raking, weeding, and ensuring proper sand levels and drainage.
- Prune and maintain trees, shrubs, and hedges, ensuring healthy growth and aesthetic appeal.
- Maintain and clear pathways, car parks, and general club grounds, ensuring they are free from debris and safe for use.
- Operate and maintain a range of groundskeeping machinery and equipment, including tractors, mowers, strimmers, and blowers, adhering to all safety guidelines.
- Assist with irrigation system checks, repairs, and general water management.
- Implement pest and disease control measures as directed.
- Support with minor facility maintenance tasks and general upkeep of club property.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, environmental policies, and club procedures.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a similar outdoor role (preferably in a golf course or sports facility setting).
- Proficiency in operating various grounds maintenance machinery and hand tools.
- A strong understanding of turf management principles and plant care.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of work and attention to detail.
- Valid UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Sports Turf Management, Horticulture, or Landscaping.
- PA1/PA6 Spraying Certificates.
- Experience with irrigation systems and basic maintenance.
- First Aid certification.
