Knutsford Express Services Limited is seeking dedicated Ground Handling Staff to join our dynamic team at our May Pen hub. This pivotal role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our passenger and parcel services, particularly those connecting to and from Jamaica’s international airports.
As Ground Handling Staff, you will be on the front lines, responsible for the safe and timely handling of luggage, parcels, and other cargo. Your duties will encompass a wide range of tasks, from meticulously loading and unloading vehicles, scanning and sorting items, to assisting passengers with their belongings, especially those utilizing our popular airport transfer services. This includes checking manifests, securing cargo properly using appropriate techniques, and operating various manual and powered equipment safely within company guidelines. You will be instrumental in maintaining an organized and secure dispatch area, performing routine equipment checks, and adhering strictly to all safety and operational protocols set by the company and relevant transportation authorities. The role requires a keen eye for detail to prevent damage to items and ensure accurate delivery, contributing directly to our reputation for reliability.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload luggage, parcels, and cargo from company vehicles, including buses and vans.
- Accurately sort and scan packages, ensuring proper routing and accountability for all items.
- Assist passengers with their luggage, particularly those utilizing airport transfer services, providing friendly and helpful service.
- Operate essential ground support equipment, such as pallet jacks and hand trucks, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct pre-shift checks on equipment and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety procedures, transportation regulations, and security protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dispatch and loading areas.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, dispatchers, and fellow team members to ensure seamless operations.
- Complete necessary documentation and logs accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Assist with general terminal operations and customer service as required, enhancing the overall customer experience.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a logistics, warehouse, or ground handling environment.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling and sorting items.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy for scanning and data entry tasks.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety procedures and protocols.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (CXC/GCE).
- Prior experience in passenger transport, airport-related logistics, or courier services.
- Certification in forklift operation or other material handling equipment.

- Familiarity with local Clarendon and May Pen geography.
