Food Basics in Cambridge, Ontario, is currently seeking a dedicated and energetic Full-Time Grocery Produce Clerk to join our vibrant team. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and unload daily produce shipments, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Stock, rotate, and merchandise produce effectively to maintain attractive and fresh displays.
- Monitor product freshness, remove expired or damaged items, and minimize waste.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe produce department, including storage areas.
- Assist customers with produce selection, offer recommendations, and answer questions.
- Operate and maintain department equipment, such as scales and pallet jacks, safely and efficiently.
- Ensure accurate pricing and signage for all produce items.
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering as directed.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient department operations and overall store success.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Basic math skills for weighing and pricing products.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a grocery or retail produce department.
- Knowledge of various fruits and vegetables, including seasonality and proper handling.
- Food Handler certification is an asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
