As a Cooler Stocker, you will be the backbone of our fresh and dairy departments, ensuring our customers always find what they need, exactly when they need it. This role involves handling various products, from dairy and deli items to frozen goods, requiring careful attention to best-before dates and temperature control. You’ll be an integral part of maintaining the high standards of freshness and quality that Fortinos is known for, ensuring food safety protocols are meticulously followed. This means rotating stock efficiently, removing expired items, and ensuring all products are faced correctly. You will work both independently and collaboratively with team members, assisting with product receiving and backroom organization when needed. The role requires physical stamina, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, as well as working in cooler and freezer environments. Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently stock and replenish grocery cooler and freezer sections with new products.
- Ensure proper rotation of all stock, adhering to "first-in, first-out" (FIFO) principles to minimize waste.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of cooler/freezer areas and shelving units.
- Monitor product freshness and quality, removing expired or damaged items promptly.
- Assist with receiving and unloading deliveries, verifying product counts against invoices.
- Ensure accurate pricing and signage for all cooler items.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with product location and inquiries when needed.
- Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and health and safety guidelines.
- Operate equipment such as pallet jacks or dollies safely and effectively.
Required Skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Physical stamina and strength, capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and standing/walking for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially with product rotation and dates.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail, grocery, or stocking role.
- Familiarity with food safety procedures and guidelines.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work in varying temperature environments (coolers, freezers).
