You’ll be the backbone of our store’s product flow, responsible for the efficient and accurate handling of incoming merchandise, from unloading deliveries to organizing inventory and moving products to the sales floor. Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently unload incoming merchandise from delivery trucks, verify contents against invoices, and safely transport goods to the backroom.
- Organize and rotate inventory in the backroom and storage areas, ensuring proper stock levels and easy accessibility.
- Move products from the backroom to the sales floor, stocking shelves, cases, and displays in an organized and timely manner.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized backroom and sales floor, including breaking down cardboard and operating baling equipment.
- Monitor product freshness and expiry dates, ensuring proper rotation and removal of outdated items.
- Assist customers with locating products and provide friendly, helpful service when on the sales floor.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations, merchandising standards, and operational guidelines.
- Operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently (training provided).
- Collaborate with team members and management to ensure smooth store operations and achieve daily goals.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy merchandise (up to 50 lbs) regularly and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with a commitment to punctuality and consistent attendance.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accurate stocking and inventory management.
- Basic communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and a customer-focused approach when interacting with shoppers.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a retail, warehouse, or customer service role is an asset but not required.
- Familiarity with grocery store operations or inventory management is a plus.
