Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and store incoming merchandise efficiently and accurately, checking for quality and quantity discrepancies.
- Organize and maintain the grocery backroom area, ensuring products are properly sorted, rotated (FIFO), and accessible.
- Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment safely and responsibly (training provided).
- Prepare products for the sales floor, including unpacking, pricing, and moving items to designated areas.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with stock counts, identifying shortages or overstock situations.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety standards are consistently met in the backroom, including sweeping, tidying, and hazard removal.
- Collaborate effectively with front-end, produce, dairy, and other departments to facilitate timely product replenishment.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Basic understanding of inventory principles is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
