Job Description
We are seeking a highly creative and skilled Remote Graphic Design Specialist to join our passionate team at the Cordova Historical Society. This is a unique opportunity for a design professional to contribute their talent to a meaningful cause, helping us visually tell the compelling stories of Cordova’s history. In this fully remote role, you will be instrumental in developing engaging visual content across various platforms, from digital marketing campaigns and social media graphics to exhibition materials and print publications. You will work closely with our executive director, museum curator, and marketing team to translate historical narratives and educational objectives into visually stunning and impactful designs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in graphic design principles, branding, and digital media, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote environment. Your work will directly enhance our online presence, attract visitors to our digital and physical exhibits, and support our fundraising efforts, ensuring the stories of Cordova endure for years to come. This role requires a self-starter with exceptional organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, and a deep appreciation for history and cultural preservation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and produce a wide range of digital and print materials, including social media graphics, website banners, email templates, newsletters, brochures, flyers, posters, and exhibition signage.
- Develop and maintain brand consistency across all visual communications, adhering to established brand guidelines and evolving them as needed.
- Create compelling visual assets for online fundraising campaigns, grant applications, and donor engagement initiatives.
- Collaborate with content creators and project managers to conceptualize and execute design solutions that effectively convey historical information and organizational messages.
- Manage and organize digital assets, ensuring easy accessibility and proper version control for all design files.
- Provide design support for virtual events, educational programs, and online exhibitions, enhancing engagement and accessibility.
- Research and incorporate relevant historical imagery and archival materials into designs while maintaining accuracy and respect for cultural context.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating diverse graphic design experience and capabilities
- Excellent understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and visual hierarchy
- Experience with digital marketing design, including social media and web graphics
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a remote setting
- Strong communication and collaborative skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts
- Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Trello) for remote team collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field
