Job Description
General Motors is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to join our team in Opelika, Alabama. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely delivery and receipt of materials and finished products.
- Manage inventory levels, conducting regular audits and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
- Liaise with suppliers, carriers, and customs brokers to resolve issues, expedite shipments, and optimize transportation schedules.
- Utilize logistics software and systems to track shipments, generate reports, and maintain comprehensive records.
- Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs forms, and other necessary paperwork.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements within logistics operations.
- Monitor carrier performance and ensure adherence to service level agreements.
- Collaborate with production, warehousing, and procurement teams to align logistics activities with operational needs.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and international regulations pertaining to transportation and customs.
- Respond to and resolve logistics-related inquiries and issues in a timely and effective manner.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with logistics management software (e.g., ERP systems, WMS, TMS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
