Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespersons (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.) with various tasks.
- Perform site clean-up and maintain a tidy and safe work environment, including waste removal.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment manually or using basic machinery.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently as directed.
- Dig trenches, shovel earth, and compact gravel, snow, or other materials.
- Erect and dismantle temporary structures, such as scaffolding or barricades.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with site preparation, including setting up and tearing down work zones.
- Support concrete pouring, finishing, and general concrete work.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the site supervisor or foreman.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labour.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada, or eligible for appropriate work permits/visas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience on a construction site.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Basic first aid certification.
- Experience operating basic construction equipment (e.g., skid steer, forklift – certification a plus).
- Familiarity with various hand and power tools.
