Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of warehouse staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
- Train, mentor, and motivate new and existing team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Monitor inventory levels, perform regular stock checks, and assist in managing discrepancies to maintain accurate records.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, security, and environmental regulations within the warehouse.
- Assist in the efficient loading and unloading of shipments, verifying contents against shipping documents.
- Operate various warehouse equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks (if certified) safely and efficiently.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments, including logistics, retail, and supply chain, to ensure seamless workflow and timely order fulfillment.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (2+ years) in a warehouse or logistics environment, with prior leadership responsibilities.
- Strong organisational and exceptional time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work effectively and remain composed in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
- Thorough understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as required.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., forklift license, Reach Truck, VNA, IOSH Managing Safely).
- Experience with specific WMS platforms commonly used by large retail or e-commerce companies.
- Knowledge of lean principles, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in a retail distribution centre.
