Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team in Lisala, Mongala Province. As a vital part of our operational success, the Forklift Operator – Warehouse Support will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials, products, and supplies within our warehouse facility. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach trucks) safely and efficiently to move, stack, and retrieve products and materials.
  • Load and unload trucks, containers, and other transport vehicles, ensuring proper handling and documentation of goods.
  • Organize and maintain the warehouse layout, optimizing storage space and ensuring easy accessibility to inventory.
  • Perform daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and other material handling equipment, reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation efforts to maintain accurate stock records.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and local regulations to prevent accidents and ensure a secure working environment.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment, including performing general housekeeping duties.
  • Collaborate effectively with warehouse supervisors, team members, and truck drivers to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Identify and report any damaged goods, discrepancies, or potential hazards within the warehouse.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance forklift operation skills and safety knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Valid Forklift Operator certification (or ability to obtain within a specified period upon hire).
  • Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of proven experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling materials and maintaining records.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading labels, tracking inventory, and completing documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with different types of forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks).
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for performing minor equipment maintenance or troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory tracking software.
  • Prior experience working in a fast-paced logistics or supply chain environment.
  • Knowledge of local transportation and logistics protocols in the DRC.
