Key Responsibilities
- Operate various types of Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including counterbalance, reach, and powered pallet trucks, safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload goods from vehicles and trailers, ensuring accurate documentation and proper handling.
- Move and stack goods within the warehouse, optimizing space utilization and maintaining organized storage areas.
- Conduct pre-shift checks on all MHE, reporting any defects or malfunctions immediately to ensure operational safety.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation, ensuring accuracy and contributing to effective warehouse management.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment, promoting a safe and efficient operational space.
- Work collaboratively with the wider warehouse team, including picking, packing, and dispatch operatives, to meet daily operational targets.
- Accurately complete all relevant paperwork and utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) as required.
- Identify and report any discrepancies, damages, or potential hazards within the warehouse to supervisors.
Required Skills
- Valid and in-date Forklift Truck License (e.g., RTITB, ITSSAR accredited) for Counterbalance and/or Reach trucks.
- Minimum of 1 year proven experience operating forklifts in a busy warehouse or distribution environment.
- Strong understanding and commitment to health and safety regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to understand instructions and complete documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of MHE beyond counterbalance and reach (e.g., VNA, PPT).
- Previous experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume logistics or supply chain environment.
- Flexibility to work different shifts or overtime as required.
- Knowledge of goods-in and goods-out procedures.
