Are you an experienced and safety-conscious Forklift Operator looking for a challenging role with a global leader in the food and beverage industry? In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of products and materials within our busy distribution center. This involves loading, unloading, stacking, and organizing goods using various types of forklifts, including counterbalance, reach, and order pickers. You will play a vital part in maintaining optimal inventory levels, ensuring products are ready for dispatch, and contributing to the overall smooth operation of our supply chain. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach, order picker) safely and efficiently to move, load, unload, stack, and retrieve products and materials.
  • Perform daily pre-shift inspections on equipment and complete necessary documentation to ensure operational safety and compliance.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations, fostering a culture of workplace safety.
  • Accurately pick, stage, and put away inventory in designated warehouse locations using RF scanners or other inventory tools.
  • Verify product counts and ensure correct items are loaded/unloaded according to manifest or packing slips to prevent discrepancies.
  • Assist with inventory management, including cycle counting and maintaining organized and clean storage areas.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or discrepancies immediately to supervision for prompt resolution.
  • Collaborate effectively with other warehouse staff and drivers to ensure timely and accurate shipments and efficient workflow.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, including aisles and forklift areas.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities as required to enhance skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Valid forklift operator certification for various types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck).
  • Proven experience operating forklifts in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and protocols, including WHMIS.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) as required, demonstrating physical stamina.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling products and documentation.
  • Basic math and reading comprehension skills to process orders and verify counts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective teamwork and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Experience with inventory management systems (e.g., WMS) and warehouse software.
  • Knowledge of RF scanning and basic computer skills for data entry and inventory tracking.
  • Previous experience in the food and beverage or consumer goods industry, understanding perishable goods handling.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety regulations.
