Job Description
Are you a skilled Forklift Operator looking for a challenging and rewarding night shift role in a fast-paced distribution environment? BSS in Acton, London, part of the Travis Perkins Group, is seeking a dedicated Forklift Loader to join our dynamic night rotation team. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe movement of goods within our busy warehouse, contributing directly to the timely dispatch of orders to our valued customers across the UK. You will be instrumental in maintaining the operational flow of our night shifts, handling a diverse range of pipeline and heating products, from small components to large, bulky items.
Your primary duties will involve loading and unloading delivery vehicles, accurately storing incoming inventory, and preparing outgoing shipments, all while strictly adhering to health and safety regulations. We are looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented setting. This role demands excellent spatial awareness, precise control of forklift equipment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate counterbalance and/or reach forklifts to load, unload, stack, and move products and materials within the warehouse.
- Accurately pick and prepare customer orders for dispatch, ensuring correct quantities and product types.
- Perform daily pre-shift checks on forklift equipment and report any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, adhering to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation, cycle counting, and identifying discrepancies.
- Collaborate effectively with the night shift team to achieve operational targets and maintain high levels of productivity.
- Ensure all goods are handled with care to prevent damage and maintain product integrity.
Required Skills
- Valid and current Forklift Licence (Counterbalance and/or Reach Truck)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Strong understanding and commitment to health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work effectively within a night shift rotation.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift heavy items when required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or similar inventory tracking software.
- Knowledge of plumbing, heating, or general building materials.
- First Aid certification.
- Proven track record of reliability and punctuality in a night shift role.
