Key Responsibilities
- Operate various types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck, order picker) safely and efficiently to move, stack, and retrieve materials.
- Load and unload trucks and containers, ensuring proper handling of goods to prevent damage.
- Perform daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and other material handling equipment, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Transport materials to and from production lines, storage areas, and shipping docks as required.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by scanning materials and updating location data using an inventory management system.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations.
- Assist with general warehouse duties, including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure operational efficiency and meet production targets.
Required Skills
- Valid Forklift Operator certification (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck).
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing, warehousing, or logistics environment.
- Proven ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and regulations.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) occasionally.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer literacy for inventory management systems.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written) in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with different types of material handling equipment beyond forklifts.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
- Previous experience working in an automotive or automation manufacturing setting.
