Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive safety inspections on vehicles, components, and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with company standards and industry regulations.
- Identify potential safety hazards, non-conformances, and risks, documenting findings thoroughly and accurately.
- Develop and recommend corrective actions and preventative measures to address identified safety issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to implement safety improvements and maintain consistent safety protocols.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, maintaining meticulous records of all safety audits, incidents, and resolutions.
- Monitor adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and other relevant federal, state, and local safety standards.
- Provide guidance and training to personnel on safety best practices and new safety procedures.
- Participate in incident investigations, analyze root causes, and propose solutions to prevent recurrence.
- Stay current with evolving safety standards, technologies, and best practices in the automotive industry.
- Perform regular audits of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure functionality and compliance.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in safety inspection or quality assurance roles, preferably within a manufacturing or automotive setting.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and software for documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Safety certifications (e.g., CSP, CHMM, CIH, OSHA 30-hour card).
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Familiarity with automotive quality management systems (e.g., IATF 16949).
- Prior experience working with a major automotive manufacturer.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
