Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products according to Ford's quality standards and specifications.
- Utilize various measurement tools and equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM) to verify product conformance.
- Document inspection results accurately, identifying and reporting non-conformances, defects, or deviations from standards.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and supplier quality teams to investigate root causes of defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in the development and improvement of quality control processes, procedures, and inspection plans.
- Maintain detailed records and generate reports on quality metrics, trends, and inspection findings.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and quality management system requirements (e.g., ISO/TS 16949).
- Assist in training new team members on inspection techniques and quality standards.
- Conduct final product audits to ensure all quality criteria are met before shipment.
- Provide immediate feedback to production lines regarding quality issues to minimize waste and rework.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality inspection or assurance role, preferably within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Strong understanding of quality control principles and methodologies.
- Expertise in using various precision measurement tools and equipment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify subtle defects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and report generation.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of Ford's specific quality standards and processes.
- Experience with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and other quality analysis tools.
- Prior experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) processes.
- Certifications from ASQ (American Society for Quality) such as Certified Quality Inspector (CQI).
